I came across this company while reading the latest issue of Frame – Rich, Brilliant, Willing which basically stands for Richardson (RICH), Brill (BRILLIANT), Williams (WILLING) is a Manhattan based, collaborative design studio and consultancy. RBW creates environments, furniture and product design where the work draws primarily from the reinvention of materials. Riffing on industrial finishes and ready made components.
Voted as one of the Top 40 emerging designers by ID magazine, these guys redesign objects with a playful use of materials including Excel Floor Lamp, Matryoshka Table and the Russian Doll Table.
During Design Miami 2008, RBW introduced the ‘Pop-up’ temporary shop made from ordinary cardboard boxes. Shared by retailers Areaware and Charles & Marie, along with I.D. Magazine selling limited edition design objects.
The idea is that the shop is assembled in one day using flat-packed cardboard boxes and tape based on the theme of shipping materials. RBW have cleverly devised a practical solutions to create a temporary retail environment including presentation displays and front desk using a minimal amount of material.

I have been spending these last couple of weeks re-writing the web-site and writing up my new free exciting eBook which will be available on the website very soon. I can’t wait to tell your more about it in the near future. I will be focusing on much more Interior Design for the home and commercially. Interior design for raw food will most certainly not be forgotten about but will be part of services I’ll be offering from now on. I will still continue to help people who want to make raw food part of their everyday lives and for those who want to make raw food more mainstream.
This change will be reflecting some of the work that I have been doing in the last few months. I have come to realise the need to open my interior design services to help other people who want healthier environments not just based on raw food, but focused in other parts of their lives and home. This service will also be focused towards business owners who want productive, healthier environments that will attract clients and work efficiently with their business through intelligent space planning and design.
I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the new information I will be sharing with you soon.
It has been a while since I have updated my blog. So much has happened in these last few months I hardly know where to start.
Last Sunday I moved into my new home in Turriff (pronounced Turra by the locals) based in the North East of Scotland to be closer to my family and friends. It was heart breaking to move away from my friends in Shropshire and there were some very tearful goodbyes, but it is so nice to be closer to family and old friends.
So as you can imagine this last month or so has been spent packing, unpacking, throwing out rubbish I haven’t looked at for years, sorting out my house and office for the big move as well has trying to run a business and work!!! It has been some juggling act!
Turriff is a market town situated around 30 miles North of Aberdeen. Behind my new home I have the local Turriff Pipe Band who practice there twice a week. They are just brilliant and have won many awards around Scotland. Luckily enough they are not so loud I can’t hear anything else, but loud enough to be able to listen to them from the kitchen. How cool is that? Our own personal pipe band!!!
Next week I’m off the West Coast of Scotland for a well-deserved break. When I come back I will be planning and making some big changes to the business. I have recently joined the Ali Brown Business Entrepreneur Platinum Group to help me make substantial changes and improvements to the business. There is a lot to be done but this will help me improve the business offering more information and different interior design services.
This is what I hear from the kitchen!
I have been super busy these last few weeks and I’ve had to make some BIG decisions. I have decided to move back home to Aberdeenshire in Scotland be closer to my family. I originally moved to Telford because of my job at iDEA, but now I am no longer working there I have decided to make a personal decision to live closer to my family.
I am very excited by the whole move. I have so much to do and organise I almost just don’t know where to start. A lot of packing to be done, decorating to house, my sister and her boyfriend are taking over my home for a while (I’m so lucky to have them).
I’m also in the middle of making changes to the business, as this move will make a difference. I’ll be moving into a new office right out in the country, with the luxury of being surrounded by beautiful countryside.
The move will be hard. I will miss many of my friends here in Shropshire. Last night I was out will my closest friend Jo, who was celebrating her engagement to her boyfriend Steve!!! Congratulations to you both, I’m so please for you. I have also been privilege to be made bridesmaid for Jo on her big day next year. I feel sooooo honoured and privileged and would not miss it for the world. Thank you!
Introducing raw food into your daily lifestyle can feel like a daunting experience. It may feel like it takes much longer to prepare than conventional cooking, or you may feel you haven’t got time or the mindset to prepare food in advance.
I know when I started on raw food, preparing foods like raw pizza or burgers just seemed like hard work and I couldn’t get my head around the preparation process, having to make foods like bread, pizza bases, burgers, snacks days in advance when I really just fancied one there and then.
We are faced with so many convenience foods. They are everywhere, in our shops, supermarkets, cafes and home and we are constantly bombarded with these foods on the television, newspapers and magazines. No wonder we find it so difficult to stay on a raw diet. We know the huge benefits of raw food but sometimes that is just not enough. Convenience foods are just that, you can pop into a shop, supermarket, bakery or café and have something like a pizza ready to eat within minutes. But if you want a raw pizza, you need to sprout your grains first and in about 3-4 days time you can have that pizza you craved for days ago!
Ready meals, microwave meals and quick fix instant foods have only taken over our stores in the last 20-30 years. Before then we spent much more time in the kitchen preparing our food and still met the demands of daily life. We are now an age where we expect things to be done in super quick time, jobs are more demanding and the pre-packed instant meals are an answer to saving time in the kitchen. But in reality, do these really save time on our health? What effect do all these processed foods have on our life in the long term? Are we beginning to see the longer term effects of these foods on our health.
Because of the high amount of addictive processed fats, sugar and salts in these foods, for many of us a lot of willpower is needed to avoid these foods. We have to face facts that if we want the healthy raw lifestyle we need to change our mindsets and focus on our values. In time this will get easier, I promise you that. I loved my junk food and I still do, but by taking control of my environment in the home and changing my habits, it has helped me to stay on a high raw diet. Don’t get me wrong I still have my days where I lapse but it does get better in long run.
In truth, the preparation of raw food doesn’t take any longer than conventional cooking. A raw pizza, bread or lasagna takes just as long (if not quicker) to prepare as conventional cooked foods. We may have to prepare some stuff in advance like sprouting or dehydrating, but the actual preparation of raw food, in most cases is just the same. It is down to changing our habits with raw food, going back to basics and not relying on pre-packed ready-made foods. With summer here on our doorstep this is an ideal time to focus on raw food when our need for cooked foods is much less.
Now we are starting to have a few days of proper sun, I have started to experiment with sorbets. Sorbets can be very refreshing, cooling and a lot less fattening than ice cream. Here is a simple cool fruity recipe perfect for those hot summer days.
Raspberry and blueberry sorbet
2 ½ cups of raspberries
2 ½ cups of blueberries
1 ½ cups of young Thai coconut (available in most Asian stores)
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
½ cup of Agave Nectar
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
Pinch of Himalayan salt
Directions:
Blend ingredients together until smooth.
Transfer ingredients in a container suitable for freezing.
Leave over night or a few hours in freezer until completely frozen
Serve
This is really nice topped with chopped dehydrated walnuts sprinkled on top.
Enjoy!
